Terry - what is losing all that weight going to do to the boat? You may need the weight of that hot tub to keep the nose up? Whatever will you do now that you won't have the diesel perfume to breath? All that fresh air can be hard on the lungs.

Rob - I tested the engine at the dock today. It never ran or sounded better. I am shocked that it seems so perfect. I will take her out on Lake Erie next weekend for a good high speed run. Need to burn off some of the old gasoline.

It seems we left off with the conclusion that there is nothing suitable for bottom paint on aluminum boats? Has anyone done any more research on the problem? Also, boot topping tape used to be available from Marine Suppliers. I am now told that 3M no longer sells this product to the Marine Industry?...

It seems that either Wax or Tri-lux II is the only choice for aluminum boats in Canada. I wonder what they do in Europe and other places around the world. There should be a more reasonable and effective product available someplace?.

When Interlux was forced to discontinue their Aluminum product undercoat I switched to "Aurora VS721 Bottom Wax" I was never satisfied with the results. MARINE VENTS

Terry - I got the name wrong. The proper name is "Nicro" vents. The ones I installed are passive, they do not have motors. They are nearly flush to the deck. They were installed many years ago and we have yet to have any leak - no matter how hard it rains.

Winter Storage

Our Alcan 370 has never been covered. We installed Vetex vents [one forward and one aft on the sundeck]. We have never had a problem with mildew. We insure the batteries are fully charged and leave them on the boat. The theory is that more harm comes from hauling them out that leaving them in place....
