Re: test of ability to use attachments

IT Works! And I haven't had a single spammer sign up since I installed the new forum software. A little repreive from the job of deleting users. It was starting to really chew up the time. The new software has some really nice security features that should slow down someone with the wrong motivation...

An eventful launch

So... Buster is in the water. She made it in for the second weekend of May, but we were out of town and didn't get out until the May long weekend. My mechanic came down and apologized for the winter damage as the water heater did not get properly flushed and is now 2 sizes larger than original. Then...

Joe I am a little suspicious that the last bottom paint used on my boat was also not compatible with aluminum. The last 2 summers we have not used any anti-fouling paint. Rather, we get in the water every couple of weeks and scrub the algae off the boat with a scrub brush. Please do not read this as...

What would you like to put on the web site?

If you want to send me information about your boat, I can publish pretty much anything you would like.

We plan on staying in the water as late as possible. Last year we went to Australia in October and missed out on the late season boating. This year I want to see at least one snowfall before we abandon the boat. Mostly we let our local marina take care of the boat over winter. They Haul the boats to...

You gave fuel consumption figures for slow running. How slow was slow? if you were running less than 6MPH it suggests that slow does not save money over fast. Can you correlate?

Interesting that the shape is used to store water. I suspect that it also creates lift to allow the boat to plane more easily. It will also create a fine entry to absorb wave impact. It would be interesting to understand the design intent of the addition.

Hull shape

We recently added a Sea Villa 32 to the web site http://www.alcanboats.com/running_free.htm . It appears to have an interesting hull shape with a piece welded over the regular hull to make a finer entry at the bow. It extends back to about the half-way point along the hull where it appears that it r...

Folks The registry has been growing slowly over the last few months, but is still a small percentage of the Alcan/Alloy/Alwest boats in the world. A deep subject:) We managed to get together with 3 boats and 4 crews, but not all at the same time. It seems that non-Alcan owners may be a very good supply of information on these boats. If your friend has pictures or stories to tell, I would love to publish them on the web-site. Get scans, recordings, negatives, whatever and I will work with them.

I have been in contact with the Sault Ste Marie boat owner and have requested higher resolution scans of the documents posted. He was most accomodating and provided additional info. I have posted the boat in the Registry section and will collect more info over time.

Alcan Boat St. Lawrence rendezvous?

Folks I would like to pick a date for an innaugural get-together of Alcan housecruisers on the St. Lawrence. Between New York and South-Eastern Ontario there appears to be around 15 to 20 of these boats. If we even had 3 or 4 together, I bet it would start some sort of tradition. I propose the weeke...
