Re: test of ability to use attachments
IT Works! And I haven't had a single spammer sign up since I installed the new forum software. A little repreive from the job of deleting users. It was starting to really chew up the time. The new software has some really nice security features that should slow down someone with the wrong motivation...

An eventful launch
So... Buster is in the water. She made it in for the second weekend of May, but we were out of town and didn't get out until the May long weekend. My mechanic came down and apologized for the winter damage as the water heater did not get properly flushed and is now 2 sizes larger than original. Then...

It appears to be Spammers. I am getting a flood of new registrations every Friday and Saturday during evening hours in China. I am slowly putting filters in place to eliminate Chinese forum users. Nothing agains the country, but 100% of Chinese registrants have not had a legitimate reason for joinin...

Joe I am a little suspicious that the last bottom paint used on my boat was also not compatible with aluminum. The last 2 summers we have not used any anti-fouling paint. Rather, we get in the water every couple of weeks and scrub the algae off the boat with a scrub brush. Please do not read this as...

We plan on staying in the water as late as possible. Last year we went to Australia in October and missed out on the late season boating. This year I want to see at least one snowfall before we abandon the boat. Mostly we let our local marina take care of the boat over winter. They Haul the boats to...

I forgot to respond to the thought of including an alcanboats.com link on your business cards. I totally concur and I think I can up the ante a little bit. I have been somewhat diligent in naming the html files after the boat. This means that the registry entry for Catherine Ann is actually http://w...

I love the idea of business cards. I created a card for myself with the line drawing of an Alwest, but I can not find the file. I will publish it as soon as I find it. I have access to printing services for my business. I will see if they can do something more professional for the casual user. I rec...

Hull shape
We recently added a Sea Villa 32 to the web site http://www.alcanboats.com/running_free.htm . It appears to have an interesting hull shape with a piece welded over the regular hull to make a finer entry at the bow. It extends back to about the half-way point along the hull where it appears that it r...

Ideas to get your freinds involved
Folks The registry has been growing slowly over the last few months, but is still a small percentage of the Alcan/Alloy/Alwest boats in the world. I would like to figure out how to get the word out to the rest of the boating world that we are interested in learning more about the the boats out there...

A deep subject:) We managed to get together with 3 boats and 4 crews, but not all at the same time. We should also count the new owners of an Alcan 37 who showed up by land only to find noone around as we had moved out into the islands to escape the wind. I am compiling pictures and a bit of a repor...

Terry For most of these boats, the hull number is on the inside of the transom, in the middle, close to the deck. It may be obscured by the bundle of wires coming together at the grounding block. One of the reasons to develop this site was to answer the very question you ask about the history. I am ...

Rob I hate to answer a question with a question, but what are you using to clean the teak? It would seem to me that teak cleaner is far more harsh than salt water and would be a greater worry. I have seen a few of these boats on the West coast exposed to year-round salt water. You can tell they are ...

Alcan Boat St. Lawrence rendezvous?
Folks I would like to pick a date for an innaugural get-together of Alcan housecruisers on the St. Lawrence. Between New York and South-Eastern Ontario there appears to be around 15 to 20 of these boats. If we even had 3 or 4 together, I bet it would start some sort of tradition. I propose the weeke...
