2012 RENDEZVOUS

Post by Betty Pearson »

The 2012 Alcan Rendezvous will be held the weekend of August 17-19. "Buster" and "Catherine Ann" will be there.

The usual is:
- arrive late Friday or early Saturday
- BBQ lunch Saturday
- pot luck dinner Saturday
- possible cruise for swimming/dinner in the area
- Sunday breakfast ????
- Sunday lunch - pot luck
- depart Sunday afternoon

"Buster" will contribute burgers & sausages for Saturday's lunch. Pot luck or a restaurant for other meals.

Where will be meet? We have been invited to return to Trident Yacht Club, in the Gananoque area, where there is mooring, parking, washrooms, BBQ's and attractive grounds. And there are nearby locations to enjoy short group cruises/swimming etc. If this location is not within your cruising area, how about suggesting something close to you which may appeal to others?

Put Aug 17-19 on the calendar and let us know if you can join us and where you would like to rendezvous. RSVP to this topic on the Forum.

We will have to drive but will try to make it this year as we did not last year so location is not critical to us

I should have mentioned - please forward the rendezvous information to your contacts - in case they aren't searching the forum regularly. Thanks, Betty

Would Buster and Catherine Ann be able to make it as far as Prinyer's Cove Marina at the eastern most tip of Quinte's Isle? Steve and I could get Cadoruca that far for a weekend from Brighton. There are Great facilities there. You can swim in the cove, Stay in a Bed and Breakfast on Site, Tie up at a dock with power, Tie up to a mooring ball or camp on site if you wish. There is an artisan cheese factory and a winery within an easy bike ride or a longer walk. Or a Cab can be called from Picton to go into town. The only thing the owner doesn't have is fresh water fill for the boats. You need to come in with a full tank. Please have a look at http://homesite.obeo.com/viewer/default ... cale=en-US AND bedandbeyond.ca AND bbcanada.com. Let me know what you think. The only thing that would change plans about having the boat there for us would be weather related. However we could stay in the bed and breakfast there and come by car if need be. PS. The closest restaurant is The Lake on the Mountain INN. They have there own microbrewery on site and the food is great. It is a 17 km. ride by car. There are also great restaurants at Waupoos( the Waupoos winery and a Great pub ) We would need cars or cabs to get to them though. The owner has a "very basic" supply store. You would need to make sure we have the supplies we need.

Fraser et al

Just for further clarity, we will be holding the Rendezvous at the Trident Yacht Club near Gananoque. Below please find the details

Date: The 2012 Alcan Rendezvous will be held the weekend of August 17-19.

Location: Trident Yacht Club, near Gananoque

Activities:
The Rendezvous will kick-off officially at Noon on Saturday with a BBQ lunch provided by the Crew of Buster, including the usual fair of sausages and burgers.

Depending on everyone’s schedule, we will include either a Saturday evening dinner cruise, or dinner at a local restaurant. Some possibilities include
- pot luck dinner Saturday
- possible cruise for swimming/dinner in the area
- Sunday breakfast
- Sunday lunch - pot luck

For those that may not be familiar with the Trident Yacht Club, there is mooring, parking, washrooms, BBQ's and attractive grounds. And there are nearby locations to enjoy short group cruises/swimming etc. See http://trident-yc.ca/web/

Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I expected an least an executive summary of the 2012 rendevous with pictures from somebody there, to keep those who could not attend inspired. For all of us toiling away in the yard can someone who was there share a bit of the happenings?

Cheers, Walt

Hi Walt,

Buster was the only boat to join Catherine Ann at Trident for the Rendezvous. And, I don't think we even took pictures! Shame on us. A few other owners arrived by car and we did have tours of Buster's major renovations. Her (his ?) interior is looking awesome.

With the boats now spread so far and wide, a physical Rendevous is proving to be difficult. Any other ideas ?

What are you doing, hauling you boat ?? You live in the "never freezes" place that we (eastern) Canadians all wish for.
