Cruising Georgian Bay

Folks
We are planning the trip up to Britt for the Rendezvous and I was hoping that the locals might be able to provide some cruising advice for the area. The two burning questions I have are:
1 - How much time should we budget for the Small Craft channel from Port Severn up to Britt?
2 - How likely are we to be able to use the outer channel for the return trip?
We can budget some extra time for the Small Craft channel, but we will be on a schedule for the return. If the Small Craft channel can be completed in 2 days or less than we won't have to worry too much.
