The insurance question is, unfortunately, a little difficult to answer. The available insurance depends a bit on where the boat is located and what kind of equipment it has. For example, some insurance companies won't insure boats in certain waters, and some won't insure boats with propane appliances. I was able to get insurance through a broker, but that was 20 years ago and I have just been renewing the policy ever since. Last time I asked my home/car insurer (Allstate), they declined to provide a quote.
