33' Alwest completely rebuilt Vancouver $39,500

Post by Westcoaster »

Maximum speed of 23 knots, single engine (454) saves you gas. It was completely retrofitted in 2006 at $20,000. The interior was completely gutted and rebuilt with mahogany finish and durable marmoleum floors. The bottom of the hull has been painted every year with aluminum trilux paint and the fiberglass deck was completely rebuilt. The galley has a 3 burner stove/oven, microwave and the fridge was replaced in 2008. She's been completely rewired and boasts a dickinson propane fireplace/heater. It has a single cabin with double bed and the seating area in the dining compartment doubles as two single beds. Sleeps 4 comfortably. It has a new hot water tank, refurbished gas tanks and the engine and leg were rebuilt in 2004 and 2008 respectively. The custom made swim grid and custom storage compartments make this boat unique. This Alwest comes with a custom 2-tank propane system that feeds the dickinson propane fireplace/heater as well as the propane stove. This boat comes with a 7' Titan inflatable with a 5 horsepower engine. She has to be seen to be believed. All furniture (including Ikea wood dinner table and chairs, dishes, pots & pans, tools, microwave, etc) included. Too many extras to mention. Must sell, teenager doesn't want to be in confined spaces with us anymore. We love this boat but one of them has to go.

Actually a Sea Villa 320 . . . and there is nothing wrong with that !
Most would agree that a Sea Villa is a better built boat than an Alwest. (I have an Alwest  )
Boat looks great BTW.

Thanks for the heads up. Would you happen to know what the difference is between a Sea Villa and an Alwest? In the years we've owned it we've always thought she was an Alwest so it would be great to get more information. We're happy to learn anything about this boat...she was definitely built to last and its hard to let her go.

All of the various versions are Alcan designs, or slightly modified Alcan designs.
The Alcan and Sea Villa models were built by Alloy Manufacturing near Montreal.
The Alwest models were built in Gimli Manitoba.
All versions have welded aluminum hulls which have proven to be very durable in fresh or salt water.
The superstructures came in a variety of materials . . .
Alcans have welded aluminum superstructures.
To the best of my knowledge, Sea Villa superstructures are sometimes welded aluminum and sometimes fibreglass.
What is your superstructure made of ?
The Alwest version has a plywood superstructure, originally sheathed in very light aluminum.
Thus, in terms of "longevity" . . . the Alcans are best, the Sea Villas are next . . . and the Alwests are hurting the most.
There are more details on the "Models" tab of the main website, if you page down to the bottom.

That's really great information, thank you. Now it makes sense...the metal tag on the door says 'Alloy Manufacturing Montreal' on it and this was a source of confusion in conversations with other Alwest owners. Seems none of us really knew about the Sea Villa. The superstructure on our boat is fiberglass. We had the deck completely rebuilt in 2006 with fiberglass over wood and the whole superstructure was repaired so there wasn't a ding in it...this is really making me want to keep my boat...

Great education for us...I'll check out the different models on the main website. Again, thank you.
