Original equipment, 5000 watt Onan generator, gas good working condition, aluminum custom wet exhaust. We are converting to diesel. $700 OBO.

Have you already got the diesel generator?
I may have one for sale. It too is original, runs great, Onan 6.5kw.
I'm thinking of re-powering with Volvo gas, run a battery bank like Buster's and just have a portable genny on hand, just in case.

We are considering the same set-up, we presently have 8 golf cart batteries, our present alternators are only 50 amp. We want to up grade the alternators to high output, 100 amp +, our battery charger is only 30 amp, a spit in the bucket, the genny would run for a couple of hours with little impact to the battery bank. If we upgrade both alternators, then we would alternate charging cycles to balance the use between the main engines.
